Walter Barfuss

It is with great sorrow the family announce the passing of walter after his courageous battle with cancer. Walter passed away in the comfort of his own home with his loving wife Alexandra by his side. Walter is predeceased by his loving parents; father Walter, and Mom, Margaretha, as well as 3 brothers Arthur, Lorenz, and Paul. He leaves to mourn many other relatives and friends.
Walter was born and raised in Switzerland. He was able to travel to Sweden, then on to England, eventually moving to Canada in 1974 to work at the Four Seasons in Toronto. He slowly made his way across Canada where he settled in Campbell River and he started the Chateau Briand and then the Harbour Grill. An accomplished chef; Walter won the heart of Alexandra with his Rahmschnitzel dish!
Walter's passions included salmon fishing, travelling to Brazil, a tasty meal, and a fine glass of wine.
He had a very kind heart and was passionate to help those in need. Through his selfless acts of kindess, His sincerity will truly be missed.
A private gathering will take place and the family will honour his wish to take Walter back home to Switzerland.
Donations to the Campbell River Hospice Society in Walter's name would be very gratefully accepted.
The family would like to thank the Home Care nurses and the Doctors who cared for Walter during his illness.
